What Parts Of A Vehicle Are Recycled?
There are so many different types of products that can be recycled that most people don’t know about. When you donate your car it either gets recycled or sent to auction, allowing another person to be able to reuse it instead of putting a new car on the road. The metal isn’t the only thing on the car that can be recycled here is a list of more obscure recyclable car parts.
What To Recycle
Here is a great guide to use, when you are ready to recycle your car, helping the earth get a little greener.
Tires
If you are ready to get new tires or if you have an issue with one and want them to all be replaced at once, you can recycle your used tires. Used tires are a precious resource to many scrap dealers. There are many things for which used tires get reused, such as fuel, artificial turf, melted down and made into new tires, and even tarps.
Batteries
Most people recycle their old vehicle batteries without even realizing it; making them one of the most recycled product in the U.S. Most the time when you replace your battery the place you buy the new battery will recycle the old one free of charge.
Engine Oil
The oil you put in your motor never wears out. The reason you get oil changed is that the oil in your vehicle becomes dirty. If you improperly dispose of your used oil it can contaminate the soil, rivers and ground water. When you take your oil to a certified collection center, they clean the used oil, so it can be reused.
Auto Glass
This is a tricky thing to recycle because the glass is sandwiched between two layers of plastic. With the improvement of technology, they are finding easier ways to reuse the glass. Your windshield glass can be transformed into fiberglass insulation, concrete blocks, and glass bottles. The plastic can be reused as carpet glue and other products.
Scrap Metal
There is a lot of metal on your vehicle such as car rims, door handles and other parts of your vehicle that can be melted down and reused for many other products.
Plastic
The other product that makes up most of your vehicle is plastic. You might not realize how much plastic your car is actually made of until you scrap your vehicle. Here are just some of the plastic on your vehicle: gas tank, lights, dashboards, and bumpers.
Engine Parts
When a major issue happens with your engine it can be a major expense. Many mechanics rebuild damaged engines and other parts offering a greener and cheaper solution to an expensive problem.
