How To Participate
First, you will need to register either your team or as an individual. Walking as a team with friends, family or co-workers helps to pass time and make the walk fun. If you would rather walk at your own pace and walk as an individual, that’s okay too. You will be able to choose from a one-mile or three-mile course. Even though this event is free, set a challenging fundraising goal for your team or yourself and help Make-A-Wish reach their goal.
Rewards
- If you individually raise $100 or more you will receive an official 2016 Walk for Wishes commemorative T-shirt.
- You will receive a Make-A-Wish soft shell 32 can travel cooler when you individually raise $250 or more.
- If you are one of their top ten fundraisers you will receive two invitations to the V.I.P. breakfast at the event with special guest and Walk Ambassador, Chloe.
About Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and North Nevada
This chapter of Make-A-Wish was founded in 1983. From their start until now they have granted 5,600 wishes and more than 250 wishes each year.
With so many of the children spending a lot of time in hospital rooms, this chapter decided to make a special place for the children to get away from the hospitals. They created “The Wishing Place,” which is a special place that children get to go and dream big and eventually see their dreams come true. When the children first walk into “The Wishing Place,” the first thing they see is a “Galaxy of Stars” above them with each star representing a special wish kid. They then go to the “Wishing Room” where the child’s ultimate wish is made. Once the wish is made, they then get a magical key to the wishing tower where their dreams begin.
