Illinois Takes Steps Toward Granting Wishes
Make-A-Wish Illinois is stepping into Elk Grove Village and Champaign this September. These two Walk and Run for Wishes events are helping to turn a fun activity into wishes for local children with critical illnesses. These two walks allow you to get out and enjoy the nice fall weather with friends, all while helping Make-A-Wish!
Walk & Run For Wishes Champaign Details
The Champaign Walk and Run For Wishes features a fun walk, a timed 5k, entertainment, prizes and costumes! Located at Porter Park (S Rising Rd & Windsor Rd, Champaign, Ill.), this event occurs on Sept. 16.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the fun lasts until noon. Ages 19+ can register for $20 and kids ages 6-18 can register for $15. Children age 5 and under can attend for free. If you register prior to Aug. 28, you can also receive an event t-shirt guaranteed in your size.
This wish-granting, active event also features a fun twist. Walkers and runners alike are encouraged to sport their favorite superhero or character costume. Following the walk, participants can enjoy prizes, which will be awarded to the race winners, the best costumes and the top fundraisers.
New this year is the addition of the Wish Village. This fun experience allows you to take a glimpse into the most common types of wishes: I wish to go, I wish to meet, I wish to have, and I wish to be.

The Walk and Run for Wishes Chicagoland event features a family-fun walk, a timed 5K and fun activities and entertainment before, during and after on Oct. 1. Come out to Grove 5 at Busse Woods (Elk Grove Village) for the event.
Register today to dress up as your all-time favorite hero or character, have an easy walk or fun timed run, and enjoy the festivities and prizes! The Chicagoland walk also include the new addition of the Wish Village experience. Registration is free for the Chicagoland Walk, but fundraising is encouraged for everyone.
