Car Donation Allows You To Be A Valentine For A Child In Your Community

February 4, 2013

Valentine’s Day is most popularly known as a time to shower your loved ones with flowers and candy, but it doesn’t have to be a day for only your spouse, significant other, parents, or your own children. Valentine’s Day is a day for showing love for all! Instead, devote every day to your loved ones and make Valentine’s Day a day for others. Plus, it's easy to do because there are so many ways to make Valentine's Day a special time for giving back to your community. This special holiday is all about love, and you can truly give the gift of love when you donate a car to Wheels For Wishes!

Skip The Card And Donate A Car

Valentine’s Day can be a day to give back in your community with a heartfelt gift of car donation that will benefit a local child.

Wheels For Wishes, benefiting your local Make-A-Wish, can help grant a wish for a local child. For a child with a critical illness, it could mean everything to the child if someone chose to be a Valentine for them this year.

About 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually. If you imagine how much money is earned for each $4 store-bought card, you are left with the idea of how many wishes could be granted for Wish Kids. Why put your money toward a greeting card when you can make a free car donation that will go so much further?

If you skip your store-bought Valentine’s Day card this year and instead, choose to donate an old vehicle in your Valentine’s honor, you could do so much more than just add to your collection of old holiday cards. You could help to grant the wish of a child in your own community. This idea will make your Valentine smile, and plus, a homemade card might be just what they want to see, anyway!

Plus, donating a car leaves you with extra time that you would otherwise spend trying to sell or trade-in an old car. With this extra time, you can be sure you perfect your Valentine’s gift!

Share The Love

When you share Valentine’s Day with a child in your community, you are truly showing them an act of selfless love. This kind of love is what a child sometimes needs in order to feel hope, strength, and joy once again. To know that someone, somewhere has donated a car so they can experience a magical wish come true, will give them the best Valentine’s Day they could ever imagine.

Even if you don’t have an old car to donate this Valentine’s Day, you can still benefit your local Make-A-Wish and help to grant a wish for a local child. You can make a general donation to Make-A-Wish in honor of your Valentine. Make an online donation at http://www.wish.org/help/donate/cards_and_certs/valentines_day and print out an honorary certificate of your choice and then give it to your special Valentine. They will love the idea of you skipping the store-bought Valentine card, and instead making a donation in their honor.

Be A Valentine

Aside from car donation or a general cash donation, there are other hands-on ways for you to get involved and give back to your community on Valentine’s Day. Consider some of our options on making someone’s Valentine’s Day special:

  • Bring chocolates or flowers to an elderly neighbor (buy organic flowers if you want to be a Valentine to the environment, too!)
  • Visit an assisted living and personally deliver a flower to each resident
  • Bring chocolates, cookies, and toys to a local children’s hospital
  • Make homemade Valentine cards and distribute them at a local hospital
  • If you are going out to dinner for Valentine’s Day, visit a restaurant that supports a good cause
  • Spend Valentine’s Day volunteering at an animal shelter or soup kitchen
  • Give a gift from the heart and donate blood
  • If you’re purchasing gifts, find gifts that support a good cause

Valentine’s Day is not just for couples, but a day to show love for everyone, everywhere. Share the love and make a gift of car donation to Wheels For Wishes, benefiting Make-A-Wish, or make a general cash donation to your local Make-A-Wish. Either way, you will help to grant a wish for a child in your community.  What could be better than that?

If you have an old vehicle to donate, give us a call at 1-855-278-9474. You can help make wishes come true this Valentine’s Day!
