20th InterContinental Miami Wish Ball A Can't Miss Event

September 29, 2014

In a city with a hot social scene like Miami, the InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball is one of the "can't miss" events of the South Florida social scene. In its 19-year history, the Ball has raised more than $14.3 million for Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, enough to grant the heartfelt wishes of more than 3,000 children with critical illnesses. This year's 20th annual version of the event on Nov. 1 might be its biggest event yet.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inductee Diana Ross will be performing at this year's InterContinental Miami-Wish Ball and actress Gabrielle Anwar serves as the celebrity auctioneer. Other guests over the years have included Paula Abdul, Sharon Stone, Wayne Newton, Pamela Anderson, Mike Piazza, Scottie Pippen, Richie Rich, Christian Slater, Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons, Don King, Venus and Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian, plus many more.

In addition to the star power, this premier event features dinner, drinks, dancing and the chance to bid on fantasy items and experiences in the famed live and silent auctions.

This formal event begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 7 p.m., with dinner, live auction, entertainment and dancing beginning at 8:30. The event is once again held at the InterContinental Miami (100 Chopin Plaza). Shareef Malnik, Miami restaurateur, is the gala chairman for the 10th time, and has helped lead the impressive fundraising efforts of the event. Malnik has been inspired to be involved with the organization after his younger brother who was diagnosed with leukemia was granted a wish.

Tickets and sponsorships are currently available. Please contact Stephanie Eckert at (954) 967-9474 ext. 318 or seckert@sflawish.org to inquire about tickets or sponsorships.

Help Grant Wishes Even If You Can't Attend

Even though the Make-A-Wish InterContinental Wish Ball and Starlight Nightclub will be a magical evening for everyone who attends, it also benefits local kids with critical illnesses and helps to grant their wishes.

If you cannot attend the Wish Ball, you may consider helping out in other ways. Maybe you will make a general donation to Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, or perhaps you will choose to donate a car and put it to better use.
